AS245 — 24 Feet HVLS Fan
The AS245 is the largest geared fan Austar builds — a 24 ft sweep for the biggest sheds on site, where one fan has to do the work of a hundred conventional ceiling fans. Air volume is 390,000 CFM at a maximum of 50 rpm, variable from zero, and the fan weighs about 150 kg. Drive is an inline helical geared unit with an induction motor, Nord or SEW German make, rated 1.5 KW at 270 Nm and IE2 efficiency — IE3 is available on special request. Five cambered aerofoil blades are rolled in Aluminium 6063 T6 to a 220 mm section with two ribs. Speed is set from a Danfoss VFD in an IP54 powder coated steel cabinet, wall mounted 4 to 5 ft from floor level and BMS compatible. Noise sits at 60 to 65 dB.

Bolted Joints
All nuts are self-locking Nyloc type, which eliminates any chance of loosening in service.
Wire Rope Restraint
As an additional safety measure every bolted joint is wrapped with SS wire rope, so a joint that backs off is still held.
Fasteners
High tensile 10.9 grade HEX bolts throughout, Unbrako or TVS make — sized with margin rather than to the minimum the load calls for.
Hanging Structure
M.S. powder coated frame and hanging structure, with a 3" square extension tube hot dip galvanised on the inside so the bore does not rust where it cannot be inspected.
Installation Requirements
- Minimum roof height of 18 ft to the underside of the fan for effective coverage; below that, fan count rises.
- Blade tip clearance of at least 600 mm from any beam, duct, light fitting, sprinkler or crane path.
- Hanging point on a load-bearing truss node or purlin, verified at site survey — not a decorative or false ceiling.
- Danfoss VFD panel wall mounted 4 to 5 ft from floor level, clear of wash-down, oil and heavy dust zones.
- Three phase 415 V 50 Hz, or single phase 230 V, to the VFD panel.
- Access equipment (scissor lift or scaffolding) available at site on the installation date.
